    Default Making some progress.

I sent the chassis out to get blasted again. Something went wrong with the POR-15 last time. The frame was pitting right thru the paint. This time I had the whole chassis epoxy primed.

I got the whole drivetrain assembled and painted. I want to get the inner fenders on there before I fab up shock mounts, and that will just about wrap up fabrication. Now I just have to remember where all those bolts go.....

It is a great feeling. I still have a lot of work to do, but it is all work that can be completed while reassembling sheet metal. I am suddenly realizing how many bolts I had to break or cut to get this truck apart.

It is getting fun now. Hopefully I can get the front end assembled today and get more parts ordered next week.

Default Yesterday's work. Mounting the fenders.

My friend Mike stopped by Saturday to lend a hand. He was nice enough to go a few rounds with my old radiator support and front valance/brush guard...which is nothing more than jeepoxide at this point. He pulled the brushguard, headlight buckets, turn signals and all hardware, so I can prep and paint them for installation.

The fenders went on without problems. I'm going to need bigger tires.

I love the fact that your shop is well-organized and well-lit, and doesn't look like you just restored a vehicle in it.

To me that is the only way to get anything done and done correctly, when you can find everything, and see what you're doing along the way.

    Nice work!

What did you use on the floor of the 715 for the insulation?

...well organized....hahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahah. oh that is funny.

    Insulation-

I bought some of this.. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...01+503272+1643

coated both sides of it with roofing tar. I used his to insulate my Sprinter van. It works great. Susbstantially cheaper than Dynamat and its competition.
The Reflectex stays flexable. I also coated the whole floor inside and out with herculiner and 3M spray on under coating. Once it is running, I'll give a full report on noise and heat.

Oh no.....you should see some of the shops I had to work in years ago.....Dungeon was a kind way of putting it.

When I started my shop, I decided: No more dark corners, no more freezing in the winter and scorching in the summer, no more filth on the floor ankle-deep, and no searching for half an hour for one item.

Again, your shop looks great....and I am sticking by that...

looking nice. i think with all that extra room between the engine and firewall i would have set the 4b farther back to get some more weight over the rear. we put a 4bt in a XJ a while back, it was considerably more tight.
