That could be just the right combination; below zero weather and the heat from a stock drivetrain to keep a 12 pack from freezing or getting warm.

I was gonna say. Don't forget to insulate the outside for summer or driving the truck. Add condensate drains, inside and outside thermometers and cab access and your set.
Although a stocker I keep a high lift, a hydraulic bottle jack, rags, block of wood, tire iron, ex wife ect. Cool compartment.

I was told it was for the cargo cover. ???? I guess it's anything you want in there! LOL.
There is no listing that tells where the cargo cover is stored.
I heard it was a spare driveline compartment. Although I don't have a spare to test that theory out or ever had a measuring tape handy to measure mine at the time. I just assumed it was factual.
It is possible that the compartment can be used for these other purposes...but the declared purpose is made clear in the Operators Manual as a tool storage area.
Your highlift will fit, but the point has been brought up before: If you are in a tight spot, it may not be possible to get 48" of jack out of the tool box.
I think it'd make a nice place for the onboard air tank.
Kaiserjeeps has put some serious thought into what it would take to convert the underbed tool holder into a beverage holder.
I used to put a couple claymores and a few frags in there for fishing when we took the water buffalo down to the river
