    depends on which CUCV

Most likely will end up w/a t400 trans, np208 xfercase (np205 in some instances of m1028/31

trans and xfer are both final 1:1

    from Steel Soldiers:

    The M1008 is a 1984 K30 pickup with a J code 6.2L diesel, TH400 3 speed automatic, and a NP208 transfer case.

The M1008 has a Dana 60 front axle open and Corporate 14 bolt rear axle with 4.56 gears, detroit locker.

The drivetrain and axles are ideal. The 6.2 isnt as good as the 6.5 but I wish I had one instead of the gasser I've got--but the price was right and I couldnt find one at the time. Id like to swap one in someday. The 400 is ox strong and the NP208, while not as tough as the NP205, is plenty strong behind that motor.

I have Grantshire's M715 sitting here now with the 6.2L in it that Spicergear built several years back. The 6.2 does the job fine in that truck and I just swapped the axles for a Dana 60 and 14 bolt combo with 5.13's and 42" tires.

After I am finished with his truck, I am planning a 6.2 in my 715 with 4.56 gears and a 205 with my 38" Michelins. Like you said, it will suit my needs fine, and certainly get better than the 5 MPG I get with my 396 Chevy now. Keep the 6.2 in its original design limitations and it will do a fine job hauling your truck around.
