What's the NAPA (or AutoZone, or Advance, etc) part number for the brake shoe return spring for the -715? I need to get a set prior to doing my brakes this coming weekend.

O'Reilly number i used was hdw424 - think the application was '67 J-4000 iirc.
No NAPA part numbers, but here's what I found in my brakes file:
Brake Return Springs
the federal stock #2530-9170871.The manufacturer's part #65909-943654. That is out of the Memphis equipment parts book. (from Will Wright 29 April 02)
Memphis Equipment has the return springs for, I think, $3.00 each. (from bump r #2734 7/11/99)
If you are referring to the two top return springs....Memphis has them at $10 a piece....I just bought two from there in January.
Forget finding them at Napa and at other places, save your gas time and effort and bite the bullet...
The springs are unique. Nothing modern off the shelf will work. Surprised? I believe that old Studebaker trucks may have used them, but thats a lot of help now.
hiker, read my post - i used J-truck springs - work just fine.
Just an update to this thread.
This O'Reillys part number is no longer in their system.

How about posting a picture of a spring with a ruler next to it.
I have 2 Pre 71 J trucks here. One with a dana 53 and one with a dana 44. Plus an early IH 5 lug dana 60 with 12 inch brakes. I am wondering if there might be a match there with one of them.
Rock Auto has a pretty extensive inventory too.
Post a pic (that we can see) with a ruler.
FYI, the oem M715 brake parts were originally sourced from Studebaker trucks per AB Linn.
Memphis has all the brake parts.
